About John Miller

Coach Miller and Sterling Athletics share a vision of spreading the Sterling Athletics brand and basketball product offering to players, coaches and academies throughout the United States. Coach Miller is in the Hall of Fame as one of the all-time greatest high school coaches and teachers in the game, sending over forty players onto college and NBA careers. He led Blackhawk High School to four Pennsylvania boys’ state championships in 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1999.

Not to mention, his eldest son is Sean Miller, the head coach of the University of Arizona men’s basketball team. Coach Miller’s younger son, Archie Miller, is the head coach of the University of Dayton men’s basketball team. In addition, Coach Miller groomed his cousin, John Calipari, for success at the highest level. Thanks to Coach Miller’s instruction, Calipari played Division I Basketball and is now the head coach of the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team.

With Coach Miller’s experience and wealth of knowledge in the game of basketball, Sterling is excited to be on his team!


  • Coach Miller won more than 630 games during his career at Riverside and Blackhawk high schools.


  • Led Blackhawk High School to Pennsylvania state championships in 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1999 and was state runner-up in 2000.
  • Won eight WPIAL Class AAA titles in 1982, 1986, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2003.


  • He has received Coach of the Year honors at the regional, state and national levels.
  • Coach Miller has sent more than 40 of his former players on to college careers.
